I’ve gotten the pleasure of testing Maybelline’s new mascara ‘Big Eyes Volum Express – 360° mascara which opens your eyes’, and I must say, it’s fantastic!! To get my ‘Big Eyes Look’, I used these products;

So we have an eyeshadow palette, an eyeliner and the Big Eyes mascara. To achieve this look I had to do two things I never normally do; Use light eyeshadows and apply mascara on my lower lashes. I figured I should listen to the experts’ advice though, and I actually thought my eyes did look bigger, and I looked more awake, when doing my makeup this way. So first up we have the eyeshadow. I applied the light shimmery shadow in the middle all over my lids and up to my eyebrows. The genius thing about the base shadow is that it also contains primer, which will make the shadows stay on flawlessly all through the day. Then I applied the the light bronze color all over my lids. After that I put the dark brown shadow in my crease and on the outer corners of my eyes. I finished the eyeshadow with a touch of the peach shadow in my crease. The peach shadow is actually something I’ve been doing for a long time. I remember seeing it on Serena Van Der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, and just had to try it myself. I think it really brings out blue eyes.

Then it’s eyeliner time! I applied a thin line from the middle of my eyes, and out to a subtle cat eye shape. That really ensures a more awake appearance and bigger eyes.

Then to the most important part; The mascara. This mascara is genius!! It has two brushes, one on each side; One for the upper lashes, and one for the lower lashes. The brush for the upper lashes, which you can see on the right, is much thicker than the one for the lower lashes. How clever! I love a chunky mascara brush, so this one was perfect for me. It was super easy to apply, and just a tiny bit goes a long way. I have some eyelash extensions leftovers on, so I really need a good mascara so that my natural lashes blend in with the longer ones. This one did the job superbly. I liked it so much that it will definitely be my new go-to-mascara.

I don’t know if you’ve notice, but like I said I never wear mascara on my lower lashes. There’s two reasons; Since I always go for mascaras with chunky brushes, applying with the same brush on my lower lashes always ends up in a mess and I get mascara all over the skin under my eyes. But with this one the problem is solved! The brush for the lower lashes is much thinner and delicate, and for the first time in my life I managed to apply mascara to my lower lashes without any mess! The other reason why I never wear mascara under my eyes is because I’ve felt like it makes my eyes look smaller, but judging by the result I now see that that’s not the case at all! It actually makes them look bigger! Yay!

My result, a perfect everyday makeup look which took like five minutes to do!
