New York Tips: Big Daddy’s Diner

24 Comments | Food & Drink

When it comes to restaurants, I’m absolutely no fancy pants. I prefer cosy, chabby and charming restaurants, as opposed to stiff, elegant ones. When Lisa and I came across this diner yesterday, we just had to check it out! Looks so American..

So cool!!

Lovely Lisa :)

I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich.. I couldn’t even eat half before I had to throw in the towel! Such a huge portion..

Too much of a good thing is.. Wonderful? Or sickening..?

You can find this supah cool place on 16th street and Park avenue :)

New York Tips: Murray’s Bagels

10 Comments | Food & Drink

The best breakfast in NYC has got to be a super fat creme cheese bagel from Murray’s Bagels! It’s soooo delicious!!! The bagel is so moist and yummy, and the creme cheese is just.. Perfection!! Seriously, promise me that you’ll try this when you’re in the city! It’s cheap too, only a few dollars..

It’s probably a huge calorie bomb, but I don’t even care.. A full Cathrine is a happy Cathrine!! :)

Brunch

8 Comments | Food & Drink

Hi dolls! It’s brunch time in NYC. I love brunch! An excuse to eat, drink coffee and sit for hours at a fancy café (or a charming diner, like today), and just talk.. Love it! If you want to check out a super cute and all American diner, you should head over to Good Stuff Diner at 14th street and 6th avenue. The waiters are kinda sucky, but the food and the atmosphere is wonderful! Now we’re headed to Williamsburg, for the Brooklyn Flea Market! Sooo excited!! Have a great evening everyone :*

New York Tips: Flavaboom

16 Comments | Food & Drink

This is probably the biggest must in all of NYC!! At least food-wise.. Sooo delicious! Forget Pinkberry, Tasty Delight, The Lite Choice ++. They have nothing on Flavaboom!! Flavaboom offers 10 different (delicious) flavors of  non fat frozen yoghurt (which tastes just like real ice cream here), and 40 toppings!! All the flavors are low cal, so it’s actually perfect for lunch! My absolute favorite is the Peanut Butter flavor! The cool thing is that you help yourself with everything you want! When you’re dunzo, the cashiers weigh it for you, and you pay by the ounce.

Healthy toppings..

And not so healthy ones.. They have everything from cookie dough and brownie bites, to gummy bears and M&Ms..

They offer other delish treats too!!

This was my result. I just had to taste everything, haha. My favorite topping was actually banana! Banana with ice cream is seriously underrated! Steer clear of the gummy bears though! Gummy bears in ice cream is just as disgusting as it sounds..

Seriously, you have to go here if you’re in the city this summer! You can find it on 6th avenue, between 17th and 18th street (just a few blocks from where I live.. A dangerous neighbor to have!)

Green Champagne

13 Comments | Food & Drink

So my lifestyle in NY isn’t really the healthiest. I’ve been sipping wine almost every day, I’ve gone some days without eating anything, and some days with eating WAY too much. Seriously – something needs to be done! I’m piling on pounds like there’s no tomorrow!! So from today; detox!! I started my day with a vegetable juice at Lifethyme. It’s made out of pure veggies, and it tastes like something out of your toilet, mixed with the vomit of a fat cow, mixed with pure horse shit. Seriously! It’s called Green Champagne, and consists of celery, kale, collard greens, green chard, apples, lemon and ginger. Well, it’s good for me, so I’m forcing it down!! If I don’t get the perfect skin, hair, body and nails now, I’m gonna be so pissed..

La Esquina

15 Comments | Food & Drink

Yesterday my super sweet friend Lisa and I had dinner plans, and we decided to check out La Esquina, because one of my favorite bloggers Sofi warmely recommended it on her blog. Can you recognize the restaurant from her header?

I orderd the enchiladas, and to be perfectly honest; The ones I make myself (from the Toro dinner kit) at home, are better. But it was a super cosy place, with good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

From the front it looks like a mexican deli, but around the corner there’s an entrance to a super cosy seating area. We decided to sit outside though, to enjoy the nice weather. Which didn’t last very long..

Anyways, it’s a good spot to eat if you’re shopping in Soho (it’s like 50 meters from the main shopping street). You can find it at the corner of Lafayette and Kenmare.

Omelet Pie

I’m always asked how and what I eat, so I thought I’d share this recipe with you. I love omelets, but I’m a little bored with the regular ones, so I’ve been making this omelet pie lately. Super yummy and very nutritious!
