Wah Wah

34 Comments | Tips & Tricks

I’m so happy to tell you that Wah Wah Skin Trim and I have started a collaboration! It couldn’t be more perfect. I’ve noticed that  the last 6 months, my skin has changed dramatically. I know it looks like I have good skin on the blog, but at the moment, my skin is really really not good. It’s almost stripped of moist, and I have a lot of tallow (talg) going on. I think this collaboration will benefit me, as well as you guys, as I’ll be giving lots of  general tips on how to take care of your skin. What I love about this collaboration, is that it’s not about statistics, marketing, selling ++. Wah Wah’s goal is first and foremost to make women more aware, and take better care of themselves, regardless if you go to their studios or not. I love that!

My relationship with Wah Wah

I’ve actually been going to Wah Wah for about 5 years. Not often, but every now and again I’ve treated myself to some pampering. It started when my sweet friend Annette gave me a Wah Wah gift card for my 16th birthday. I decided to use it on a treatment that was called “Lunch Treatment” (I don’t know if it’s still called that), which consisted of peeling and a moisturizing mask. I was hooked! I’ve done that treatment several times since. I’ve also tried the spray tanning, which was great! In addition to that, I’ve surprised by boyfriend with a couple’s spa jaccuzi! I definitely recommend you to surprise your boyfriends with that, it’s so luxurious and relaxing! A great bonding experience. You can also do it alone, which is probably awesome and super relaxing (and it’s not expensive at all).

About Wah Wah (this is from an email I got from my contact person at Wah Wah, Sunniva)
“The most important thing for us is the message of taking care of your skin by nurturing it and preventing damage, aging etc, and that all different skin types need different products. You can almost compare it to clothes. You won’t wear a small if you’re a large. Our skin therapists use a micro camera to reach your under skin and mid skin, and measure damage, tallow, elasticity and moist. Based on that, you’ll get a program of products and treatments you should use”
You can read more by visiting their website here

My experience today

So today I went to the studio to have an analysis of my skin, as well as a few treatments and getting products based on the result of the analysis. As I told you, my skin has really changed the last 6-8 months. After I started blogging I’ve been spending a lot of time in front of the computer, and I’ve also been very stressed. Not necessarily stressed in the sense that I run around like crazy all the time. More stressed physiologically. I didn’t realize that having a lot going on in your head could do damage to your skin, I thought it was only if you’re running around, not sleeping, not eating enough ++. Today I learned that when I’m stressing in my head, my hormones change, and can react by producing more tallow, which leads to breakouts and impurities. Also, when I’m spending so much time in front of the computer, my skin gets really really dry. When the skin doesn’t get enough moisture, it tries to compensate by producing even more tallow, which again means even more breakouts! Knowing that, it’s not weird that my skin has become more of a problem for me.

We started with analyzing my skin. I got to see on a big screen what my under skin looks like. It was very unpleasant to see, and I actually got a little bummed out. There was so much tallow, and I’m sort of mad at myself, and even a little embarrassed, for letting this happen! I’m so glad I did it though, because now I know so much more about what I can do to fix it! After the informative analysis, my wonderful skin therapist Ellen peeled my skin, damped it so my pores would open, squeezed out excessive tallow, and finished with a wonderful massage and a moisturizing mask. My skin was actually so dry, that even after a lot of damping, my pores wouldn’t really open. But it was a wonderful and relaxing treatment, and not to mention very eye opening and informative. One of the things I realized is that I’ve been using completely wrong products. I’ve recommended my exfoliator from ID several times on the blog, but it’s actually very unfortunate to use on my skin. My skin is sensitive, and what happens when I use it, is that the blood circulation in my skin can’t handle it, which make vessels in my face break open, which again leads to damaged red areas. I hate myself for using it several times a week for years, haha. I had no idea that I’ve actually been doing my skin more harm than good.

Haha don’t laugh!!

The products I will be testing

I was lucky enough to get products from Tromborg, which I will be testing the coming months. I very confident that my skin will get a lot better now. Here are the products I’ll be using, and how:

Anti Polluting Serum will be used under my day cream every morning. After a couple of weeks, when my skin has adjusted to it, I’ll be using it at night too. Pure Control Cream is a day cream, and will be used both day and night. Exfoliating Scrub Mask will be used a couple of times a week. In the beginning it’s enough to just apply it on the skin and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. After a few weeks I can start rubbing it in. Multi Vitamin Facial Mask will be used after the exfoliator a couple of times a week. I can sleep with it on if I want to, but my skin therapist personally recommended to remove it before I go to sleep. Cleansing Foam will be used both day and night. In the morning it’s enough with one cleanse, but in the evening I’ll do it twice. The first time to remove makeup and “dirt” from my face, the second time to go deeper into the skin. Lavender Recover Mist will be used directly after the cleansing foam, to add moisture to the face. I’ll also be applying it several times throughout the day, for instance when I’m sitting in front of the computer, for a quick moisture refill. Eye Gel will be used every morning (I’m so incredibly dry around my eyes). It’s very important to not apply to the eyelid and the skin closest to the eyes, because the skin is so thin that it will only lead to saggy eyes. I’ll be padding a light layer in a circle around my eyes, from my eye brows and down to my upper cheeks. Active Pureness Mask (From Comfort Zone as they were sold out of the one from Tromborg) will be used once a week, to get all my excessive tallow up to the surface and out of my skin.

Other tips I got, which everyone should do

I’m taking this very seriously, and the minute I got home I made a delish salad with chopped walnuts and feta cheese, to get the good fats into my body.

Sorry for the super long post guys! I just wanted to give you all background information now, so that you’ll get a better idea of follow up posts with results etc later. The next posts won’t be this long, promise!

Look forward to hearing more tips! My skin is in pretty bad shape from makeup usage too.
Just an FYI, one would say – Moisture – not (just) moist, when talking about one’s skin.

Oppdater oss! :)

Oi, lang kommentar og gitt… Hehe. Klem!

This is a great post – super informative. I’ve certainly learnt a lot. Whilst I do try to look after my skin with moisturisers etc, I do love the sun which is the absolute worst thing for it. I MUST try and take more care!! XX

I love this post, thanks so much for blogging about this. My skin has much tallow in the “T-zone”, so I try to use moisturisers every day, but my schedule is super-full, and I’m soo stressed out now as my exams is coming up, and we got so much homework and assignments to deliver! Huh, anyway, I love your blog, keep up the good work, you’re inspiring so many girls out there! :D Including me ; )

Among “Other tips I got, which everyone should do” you gave us the tip to use mineral makeup, but that is just not good enough. It’s still toxic substances in the this kind of makeup because it’s not organic. Everything you put on your face should be organic!! I see you just have opened your eyes for how important it is to use the right products, well I think you should open your eyes for how important it is to use organic products. You know the brand “id”? A lot of girls have had problems with it even though it’s a mineral product.
If you don’t know about any good organic brands, take a look at for example theorganicpharmacy.com :)
Remember, 60% of what you put on your skin absorb into the body and a lot of these toxins will stay in your body for the rest of your life, you can’t flush it away with a detox or something. I love your blog, and I just want to help you, in a good way :)

[…] I’ve completely forgotten to tell you about my experience at Wah Wah a few weeks ago.. And oh my God you guys.. I’ve had the best and most relaxing experience! I can’t even tell you how nice it felt.. Why haven’t I done this before?!? Since I was feeling a but hungover, it was extra special. So luxurious! I got the New Wave treatment as well as the Hammam treatment. The New Wave treatment consists of a full body scrub and cleanse, followed by a jacuzzi where fruit, chocolate and drinks are served, and finishes off with an hour long massage, skin analysis and skin treatments. I also got the best moisture wrap on my body. Yes, I was wrapped! Haha. Loved it! What I love about Wah Wah isn’t just their amazing treatments, but also that the qualified staff give soo many good tips! Here’s the list of tips I posted after my last visit: […]
