Those Sleepless Nights..

15 Comments | Fashion

Hi loves :) Man, what an intense headache I have, and I’m not even hungover. I’ve seriously been unable to sleep this week, so today I feel like shit. Last night it was probably because I was way too excited to sleep, after the hour I skyped with Tonje before bed. Can’t believe that one week from now, I’m on my way down to Africa!! We’ve booked a fabulous hotel in Camps Bay for three days, then we’ve planned a two day safari, and the rest of the time we’ll be staying at Tonje’s house. It’s gonna be an adventure, that’s for sure. And some good news for you guys; Looks like I’ll have internet connection the whole time, maybe except from the two day safari, so you will get to see everything we do :) The thing I’m most excited about is actually visiting a very poor township called Langa. Maybe not excited, but I really think it would do me good to see the poverty and struggles with my own eyes. I have a feeling that will be a very emotional day. And I’m also super excited for the safari, can’t believe it’s actually happening! We also planned a trip to a lion park, where you can walk with lions, hold baby lions in your arms etc. Can’t wait to share all the magical experiences with you guys :) Now I’m off to pick up the vaccines for the trip, then I’m going out with Amalie later. I think I might try to talk her in to a girl’s night in instead though, not really feeling like partying while I’m practically a zombie in human form. Have a fab day you guys <3

    Stunning as always!

You know when you’re in Africa – i’d love to see you with a kid that lives in those areas. That shows a lot of respect!

    Hi!

Hope you’ll have a great trip! I do however recognize that you’re saying that you’re going to Africa. If you were ever to go to France you would never say that you’re going to Europe. Africa is a continent with great variations, and is not a homogenous area with starving kids and drought. The African continent consists of over 50 states and about 900 million people. Hope you do a bit of self study about the area you’re going. There are massive differences in culture, wealtg and “no-goes” when it comes to customs. South Africa is actually rated 3rd in the world in supplying safe, drinkable tap water and allegedly has the cheapest electricity in the world.

I see your point, however, I am in fact going to the continent of Africa, so it’s not wrong to say so :) Obviously I know that there are huge differences throughout the continent :)

I think it’s belittling to the country which you’re visiting. National identity and pride for ones nations accomplishments is important, and I really just hope that you’re not just another white, 20-something girl going down to “Africa” to vist childrens homes and take cute pictures with endangered animals. All in all, I just hope you’re not going down there visiting childrens homes, being super affectionate to kids, who already have lost their family, and then just leaving the next week. These kids need stability and resources raher than haven their picture taking with som stranger. “Africa” or South Africa, in this case, would much more benefit from you taking your shopping habbits and Visa Card to the stores there and leave some money after your stay, rather than you cleaning your conscience.

I don’t really understand what the problem is here.. I’m going down there to visit my best friend and she’s going to show me around, and I’m excited for everything I’m about to experience. What’s the problem?!? I don’t get it..
