Oh Hello Holiday

2 Comments | Everyday Life

You guys!! My last exam is delivered, and I can officially enjoy the xmas holiday!! I’m so freaking happy about this, you have no idea. In the lack of better words, my life has sucked lately, and now I’m SO ready to make up for all the fun times I’ve missed. I can’t believe I’ve just completed my first semester, it feels so ridiculously good. I’m super happy with how the last exam went too, so right now I’m feeling pretty damn good. YAY!!! What I’ve been lounging around in this morning..

Gotta love the combination of knit+lace. So anywho, I’m about to start the day for reals, as I have tons of stuff on my to-do list before Christmas. All super fun and cozy stuff though, with present shopping being at the top of my list. How are you guys coming along with the pressies? I just have a few things left, but I’m so picky when it comes to gifts so I take forever to decide, hah. I ordered lots of gifts from Asos in the end of November, and do you think the package has arrived yet? Noo… Just my luck, so now I have to find replacements for those gifts as well. But whatever,  I have xmas holiday now and nothing can bring me down!! Tonight I’m going out with my sisters, mom and my brother’s girlfriend to celebrate, which I’ve been looking forward to for months. We’re going to Kurt Nilsen’s christmas concert, then we’re heading out to dinner and I will most definitely pop a champagne bottle in celebration of myself, haha. Okay, time to let the present shopping commence, have a good one angels♥♥

Skirt + Top: Bik Bok by Lene Orvik // Glasses: Bruuns Bazar/Specsavers

Hi lovelies♥ Long time no see! The last two days I’ve been working on my home exam day and night, and I’m finally starting to see the light in the end of the tunnel. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for the xmas holiday. I’m so freakin’ sick of having something hanging over me at all times, and tomorrow morning it’s over! Halleluja!! It was so depressing to sit and type on my computer last night with Snapchat video after Snapchat video ticking in on my phone of my girls having the best time at the annual xmas party. Bah! Now I just have to go through the paper and fix some things here and there, then I’m done, so I thought I’d take some time and update you guys. I’ve been wearing my new set from Lene’s BikBok collection today, because happy clothes equals a happy Cath, which again equals a more productive Cath. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend♥♥

Mondays

9 Comments | Uncategorized

Hi loves, and happy Monday! Last night we finally handed in our big exam paper, and it felt so good!! I wasn’t able to enjoy it too much though, as I’m such a perfectionist and just feel that it could’ve been better. But whatever, it’s done, and I never have to think about it again, yay! All day yesterday went to sitting in front of the computer doing the final touches..

Glasses: Karl Lagerfeld/Specsavers (sponsored)

I just noticed that I look so different with my hair parted at the side, hah. So anywho, this morning I just really needed some time off the computer after spending way too many hours in front of it the last weeks. When I hopped out of bed I put on xmas music in the whole house, organized my closet and now I’m doing tons of laundry while dancing to ‘Jinglebells’ and having lots of coffee. Cosy!

Now I just got in from playing in the snow with Bella, and it’s time for a little skin care session before the rest of the day will go to all the accounting work that has been piling up during my exam period. It should’ve been done a month ago, I hate being late! So it just needs to get done today, even though it’s the most boring thing I know.

Fun life nowadays, right? School and accounting work, bah! I’m so freakin’ excited for next Monday when I can officially celebrate the holidays, just one more exam to go. Thanks for sticking by me in this incredibly boring time period, hah. You’re the best♥

Study Snacks

9 Comments | Uncategorized

Oh my God you guys! As you’re reading this, I’m at my first exam, which is so surreal. I haven’t had an exam in so many years, and hopefully it will be smooth sailing. This is obviously a pre-written post, I’m not that obsessed with blogging that I’ll do it from the exam, hah. I just wanted to put a post up as I won’t have a lot of time today. After my exam I thought I’d hit the stores and see if I can find something cute to wear for tomorrow’s girls night in Oslo, and this morning my boyfriend surprised me with show tickets for tonight to celebrate me finishing my first exam. We’re seeing ‘Mann 44’ with the Norwegian comedian Bård Tufte Johansen, who is one of the funniest people I know. After that I have to pack for Oslo, but I’ll try to update you later.

Oh, and to the point of this post. I’ve figured out that I study best when I’m happy, and what makes me happy? Food!! Haha. A bit sad, but it’s the truth. So yesterday while doing the last preps I indulged in cheese and crackers, grapes, tea and chocolate. YUMS! Yesterday I woke up with a fever so I didn’t get too much done, but luckily I feel prepared either way.

See you later lovelies, have a good one♥

My weekend in pictures. Looks like fun, right? Haha. I actually think the weekend has been pretty great, I don’t mind one bit sitting in this exact spot, in my comfy sweater and adorable slippers,  working with school and preparing for my exams. My first exam is exactly three days away, and I feel prepared and ready for action! Such a good feeling.

So as you can tell, not a lot of blog-worthy things have happened this weekend. I hope you bare with me through my exam period! How have you guys spent your weekend?♥

My Best Study Tips

13 Comments | Uncategorized

Hi lovelies! Today I thought I’d share some of my best study tips, as several of you have asked me and I love to make posts that I know are wanted by you guys. I of course just started studying this semester, so I’m absolutely no expert, but I thought I’d share some either way. I hope you find them useful, and feel free to add any tips of your own in the comments♥

  • Visualize your own success – know your goals

Like with everything else in life, I think it’s incredibly important to have a clear view on what your goals are, and always keep them in the back of your mind. Your goal doesn’t have to be to get straight A’s, they should be somewhat realistic. What is the best possible grade you think you could get if you work hard enough? In some classes it might be an A, and in other classes your goal might be to simply not fail the class.

When you know your goal, start visualizing yourself reaching that goal. If your goal is to get an A, visualize yourself receiving that A, calling your friends telling them about how well you did, posting it on Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat, whatever! ‘Act as if’ – In your head you’ve already gotten that A. It’s all about mental training, and if you visualize yourself getting the best grade in your head enough, your actions will follow. You’ll get more motivation to study, and you’ll make decisions that will make you reach your goal easier. Should you go out partying this weekend when your exam is next week? Well, no, because you’re getting an A. Do you get where I’m going with this? I use this mental training in so much of what I do, and for me it really helps for my motivation. I visualize myself reaching my goals, think about the amazing feeling of proudness and achievement that would give me, and suddenly it’s so much easier to sit down with the books and work towards reaching my goal.

  • Structure/Planning

Another important thing is a good plan, and stick to it! It can be both long-term and short-term plans. Before the semester starts, set up a week-by-week plan of what you need to get done in order to do well, and follow it! If you fail one week, work twice as hard the week after to make up for it. I’m not super good at this, but I will definitely try to do it next semester which is going to be more challenging than this one.

The short-term planning I have totally under control though, especially the day-by-day planning. In the mornings I look at what needs to get done, make a reading plan for the day, and stick to it. It can be reading 50 pages before I allow myself a break for lunch, checking Instagram and all the things us girls love to do, then read 20 more pages before working on old exams for an hour. It’s so much easier to get through if you have a plan.

  • Find out what works for you

Most of the people I’ve talked to have been like ‘I need to sit at school and read, I can’t focus even a second at home’. I think this is the most normal thing, but for me, I definitely concentrate best in the peace and quiet of my own home. I’ve always been like that, and I still am, without really knowing why. The point is that when you find out what works for you; Do that! If sitting at school is what works, do that as much as you can. For me, it’s all about making a relaxing atmosphere around the dining room table, and I’m good to go. I’ll make sure the house is clean, and that everything that’s on my mind is done so that I can focus 100% on school. Every day there’s an email (or ten) that I need to answer, a blog post that I need to make,  a text I need to reply to or stuff like that, so I make sure to do all of that before sitting down with the books. Then I can sit for hours and hours.

  • Focus!! No phone/computer while studying

This one should be a given. When you’re studying – FOCUS! No Snapchtting, no checking Instagram.. If you’re focused you can get through the reading list so much faster than if you’re constantly checking your phone and loose your concentration. There’s different apps that you can use if you struggle with keeping your hands off your phone, where you can make apps like Facebook and Instagram unavailable for a certain period of time. For me, it’s enough to put my phone in night mode, and put it out of reach.

  • Eat, sleep, work out

Also a given; What you eat, how you sleep and if you exercise is crucial to how well you do when studying. Avoid sugar and anything that messes up your blood sugar, eat filling and healthy food and make sure to have healthy snacks available. Try to go to bed at the same time every night, and wake up at the same time every morning, and always get 8 hours of sleep. Hit the gym or just take a long walk to refresh your mind.

I always eat a healthy breakfast before hitting the books, and there are some things I need to have by my side while studying; Coffee and Pepsi Max. I’m so addicted! If I have those things available next to me, I focus so much better, hah. For you it might be having fresh berries and water (which sounds so much healthier).

  • Discuss

This is a tip that a lot of you readers gave me after I started studying, and it’s a great one! Find someone in your class that is at the same level as you, and discuss what you’ve read and what you’ve learned. Maybe she/he has learned something you missed? Plus, I think it’s so helpful to explain something to someone. If I teach someone how to solve this or that equation, I remember it so much better myself.

I’ve actually sat down with my dad a couple of times and done previous given exams with him, and I explain to him why this or that is the right answer to the question. He already knows as he has a similar education and is the smartest man on the planet, but he listens to my explanation and that makes me remember it so much better.

  • Remember to have fun

Don’t make your life all about school! Remember to do things that give you fresh energy, happiness and that make you forget all about school. For me, that is spending time with my friends. Talking, laughing, making a yummy dinner, find out what’s up with them and listen to funny stories from their days is just what I need to rewind. I also really like the balancing act of blogging and studying, even though it can be stressful at times. Blogging takes my mind off school which is a good thing, because then I have fresh energy school-wise when I return to the books.

  • Don’t give up to soon

One thing I’ve really noticed the past month, is how important it is not to give up too soon! You should’ve seen me in the first classes, I was like a walking question mark. I looked at equations and listened to the facts, and thought to myself ‘no way in hell am I ever going to learn this’. Then suddenly something clicks, and you get a whole new perspective on things. Everything suddenly starts to make sense, and you just giggle at your former self who didn’t understand this super logical equation.

Hard at Work or Hardly Working

19 Comments | Everyday Life

Good morning my loves! I was about to make an outfit post, but I thought I’d share some pics from yesterday instead. I love doing outfit posts, but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a bit, and share some different pictures instead. Come to think about it, I’m so bad at sharing more personal posts, it’s usually just outfits. If that’s something you want me to do more of, I definitely will! It just doesn’t come naturally to me to snap pics when I’m just hanging around the house in my pastel colored sweats. But yesterday I did. When you put two bloggers in the same room to work on a school paper, you can be damn sure that it will be documented, hah.

I like that I’m pretending to be writing with the cap of the pen on. Epic fail, hah.

With my darling Julia, who has so quickly become such a good friend. She is the sweetest! And to the title of this post, our plan was to be hard at work with the paper all day, but I guess we ended up.. Hardly working! We just have so much to talk about, there’s no time for analytics, numbers, strategies and statistics. We definitely have to be more serious next time, but we were both just in a girltalk mood. We heated up leftovers from last night’s pizza, which was even yummier today. It probably seems like all I eat is pizza, which is probably not too far from the truth this week.

My boyfriend of course had to snap some pics of us, and he was like ‘Sorry, but this looks like the awkward school photos we took in first grade by a desk‘. I don’t think I can argue with him, but whatevs. Plus, first graders don’t get to include their dog in their pictures, but I did. Suck on that!!

By the way, I’ve followed the tips some of you have left me, and started making mind maps in every class. This is so smart!! I write down all the most important things, and it’s amazing how well you learn something just by writing it down. Now I have a full overview of the most important things from every chapter, in stead of hiding important notes in a notebook. Doesn’t macroeconomics look like FUN you guys?!? Haha.

After Julia left I headed down to my bestie Amalie’s and spent the evening with her and my friend Kristin. I LOVE just laying on the couch with my closest girlfriends, talking about anything and everything for hours, and just enjoy their company. Today I have the most magical day planned! I have an appointment in a bit at Wah Wah skin trim studio, I absolutely love that place and I haven’t been there in ages. Before that I’ll try to get some studying done, and tonight my friend Annette is coming over for a girls night in. I have bought yummy steaks for us, the wine is already cooled and ready to be consumed by two giggly girls with mouth diharrea tonight, and I just know that this day will be a good one.

Have a lovely day everyone♥

Flower Bomb

2 Comments | Fashion

Okay, someone had WAY too much fun last night, and by someone I mean myself. Every day this week has a different theme, and last night it was time for the flower bomb festival. With flowers drawn on our clothes, bodies, faces, and flower crowns in our hair, we had so much fun while dancing and enjoying the different concerts in the sunset.

Some of the amazing people in my group..♥

The sunset created the most magical light inside the huge tent! Not exactly the best picture of me, but I just had to show you the pretty sunrays that joined us for a quick dance before the sun went down..

I met tons of girls who read my blog too, which is one of the most fun things I know! Thank you all so much for saying hi, I can’t wait to be class mates with all of you pretty people!

The night didn’t end in the most fun way for me though. I ended up spending the night at the emergency room with my boyfriend who had hurt his head, and the wait was way too many hours long.. He’s much better today though, thank God! The rest of my group met up at 9.30 this morning to start drinking again, but I decided to stay with my man in case he needed anything. Not that I would be able to start drinking that early anyway, what are those people made of?? I don’t get it. I’ll probably join them in a bit though, and tomorrow is the last day. I hope you’re all having a great day♥

Back To School

56 Comments | Fashion

You guys, I did it!! I signed up for a bachelor’s degree in marketing in the last minute, and I’m officially going to be a full time student. Say whaat?? I have no clue what I’m doing, but I’m just taking a chance here and hoping for the best. I’ve always wanted to get a higher education, and marketing is something that’s really catching my interest. I can’t wait to get started, I’m so nervous and excited at the same time. This is so huge, I feel like my whole life is going to change.

Yesterday was the kickoff of what we call ‘fadderuken’ in Norwegian. It’s a week where all the new students get together and get to know eachother, and bascially drink 24/7. It’s funny how alcohol is a social lubricant for Norwegians, but apparently we need some alcohol to get confidence to talk to new people, hah. We’re divided into groups, and my group is filled with the sweetest girls ever! I’ve made friends with some amazing girls, which is the whole point of this week; getting to know people and making new friends at the school. Yesterday we met up at school at 10am, and I wasn’t home until well into the night. It was such a blast! Today we went to see the hilarious Zahid Ali do a little comedy routine, and the rest of the school have probably started drinking again right about now. I went home after the comedy show though, as being drunk 24/7 and running my blog isn’t exactly a good match. Super early tomorrow morning I’m headed to Oslo for meetings, so no alcohol for me today. Luckily I’m going home again tomorrow night, so I’ll join in on the fun again on Thursday.

On Tuesday next week the real classes start, and I’m so happy with my schedule. I only have classes Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and on Mondays and Wednesdays the shcool day is less than three hours. Obviously I have to study a lot in addition to the classes, but it’s so nice as I plan to juggle school with full time blogging, trips and different projects. Freedom to schedule my days just the way I want is a luxury I absolutely love, so I’m so happy that I can continute to do so most of the time. Celin and I will continue to work on our big secret project too though, and if it goes well I might take a break from school next fall. But we’ll see, at least I’ll have started something :)

My look yesterday, so excited and nervous at the same time! I managed to lose my umbrella yesterday though, and I couldn’t find a new one when I left this morning, but it was fine as it wasn’t raining. When I left school it was pouring down like crazy, and I looked like a drenched cat by the time I came home. Amalie was supposed to shoot my outfit and everything, bah. If I can give one tips to students who have just moved to Bergen; Don’t ditch the umbrella even though it’s not raining when you leave the house. It will almost definitely start to rain when you least expect it, hah.

Speaking of other students, do I have any readers who are starting BI in Bergen along with me?♥♥
