London Tips: Momo

Leave a Comment | Fashion

I’ve been asked to do a post with my best London tips, but to be honest with you; I just have one! Every single time I visit London I end up doing the same touristy mistake; Spending all my free time in Oxford Street. I usually just have a day or two when I’m there, and Oxford Street is just so easy for shopping as they have pretty much everything. I’d love to spend some more time there and explore what the city has to offer beyond the tourist hell in Oxford Street, but for now; I’ll share the one tip that I do have.

My favorite restaurant in London is called Momo. It’s Moroccan, and it seriously feels like you’re in oh-mighty Morocco when you’re dining there. The theme is found all through the restaurant, not a single detail is left out. Just check out this gorgeous space!

I’ve been there twice, and I’ve ended up staring at all the breathtaking details during both my visits..

The food is of course also absolutely delish. My favorite on the menu is ‘Momo Grill’, where you get a little bit of everything when it comes to meat. Remember to order potatoes on the side.

Visiting the restrooms at Momo is a little experience in itself. First you have to go down these stairs which almost look like the entrance to a grotto..

Then you reach the restrooms, and you realize that you’re actually in a grotto!

It took me a few seconds to realize that this was the sign for the women’s restrooms, hah. Like I said, every detail is thought of!

You can find Momo at 25 Heddon Street, which is really close to Oxford Street if you’re there and want a little lunch break. Just walk down Regent Street (if you’re standing outside Topshop like I always am, walk across the road and go straight forward). Walk around 10 minutes down Regent Street, and when you see Zara Home on your right, walk in the little street and there you’ll find the restaurant.

Another restaurant I love in London is Hakkasan in Mayfair. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to go there, but I’ll definitely go the next time I’m in the pretty city♥

Fun Times in London

14 Comments | Fashion

Hi lovebugs! Sorry for the slow blog day first of all. When I woke up my cousin Fride popped by for a surprise visit, and we ended up for hours watching the Desperate Housewives marathon on TV. Right when she left my nephew came over to play, right after that I went for a long walk with my friend Kristin, and then a family dinner was on the menu. Such a lovely day! Now I’m just home to update you guys before I’m headed back to my partens’ house for a movie night in. The perfect Sunday!

I thought I’d share some pictures of the Spectacle Wearer of The Year Awards, which is the reason we were in London. It’s the UK version of ‘Årets Brillemodell’, and it was so grande and fun! It was a whole other deal than anywhere else, in the UK it’s a huge gala and lots of British celebrities were there. I didn’t know who anyone was, but the paparazzi were going crazy over everyone who showed up, so I guess they were sort of somebodies, hah. We started with a little pre-party at the hotel..

The most beautiful location for a dinner, don’t you think?

Free wine + Espen is the best combination, hah. We had too much fun!

I could never remember the name of this guy, but apparently he is very famous. That calls for a picture!

Yummy dinner while watching the award show..

A photo booth, a table full of different candies, tons of champagne and lots of cheese and crackers were some of the things Specsavers had set up for the afterparty. We had so much fun!

Espen and Irma, our associate at Specsavers. She has become such a good friend, that girl is amazing!

Ah, I miss London already. At the same time a relaxing weekend has been absolutely perfect as well. Now I’m off to see the movie ‘Argo’ with my family, it’s supposed to be really good. I hope you’ve all had a great and relaxing Sunday, I’ll see you tomorrow♥

London is such a beautiful city! I’m falling more and more in love every time I visit, and I wish we had a few more days there to explore and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Here are some of the pics I snapped on our short but sweet trip there :)

Espen is such a poser, haha. Shooting pics for his blog is seriously the most fun thing ever, he’s so funny and creative. I tried to learn a thing or two..

We had so much food! But I must say it seems like the standards are pretty much higher in Norway. I only had one really good meal there, I’ll do a little post with tips about that tomorrow.

Ah, what a fun trip!! Today hasn’t been as fun though. I visited the doctor earlier, as I have an infection in my tummy which is so painful. I’m crossing my fingers that it goes away soon! I’ve spent the entire day on the couch watching tv-shows and feeling sorry for myself, listening to the rain pounding on the windows and cuddling with Bella who is still so crazy because of her period.

Oh, and I have to say a huge thank you for all the nice comments on this morning’s blogpost! You guys ROCK, and I’m so glad you agreed with the post. Lots of love♥

London Shopping Spree

15 Comments | Fashion

I felt like I almost didn’t by anything for myself while shopping in London, but while looking through these pictures I realize that I actually shopped quite a bit. Like I said I had to buy an extra suitcase to get everything I bought home, but the entire extra suitcase went to all the Christmas presents I got. I’m almost done with all the gifts, and it feels so good! But back to my buys.. First up, my favorite new buy; These boots.

cathinthecity london shopping spree cathrine heienberg

Boots from River Island

How pretty are they?! I absolutely love them, and especially since I wear black boots almost every day, it was a sure buy. And they are so comfortable to walk in! I found them on Asos in burgundy here if you want to get the same. I actually found three more pairs of shoes that I just had to get, and they were super affordable. Unfortunately they had all sizes except for 39 in all of them! Damn you standard shoe size… (adlink)

These sunnies are just oh-so-cool. They’re oversized and I adore the pattern and shape!

Sunnies from River Island

One of my favorite places to shop while abroad is at the drug stores! They have so many fun girly things, and the prices are so much lower than in Norway. I stocked up on my favorite dry shampoo which is super cheap in the UK compared to Norway, and of course false lashes which is also so expensive here. When I was in the US this summer I tried the hair mask from Morrocan Oil, and I absolutely loved it, so I thought I’d try the shampoo and conditioner in the same series as well. Such great products!

Girly things from Boots

When it comes to small accessories like rings, I either loose them or they turn blue-ish after a while, so I stocked up on some new accessories.

I got a few more as well, I’ll show you in an outfit post :)

Accessories from River Island

This blouse was too adorbs to pass up on..

Blouse from River Island

Some new knits for fall.. The grey one has an attached lace hem at the bottom, so cute!

Sweaters from Topshop

I have to say, I was a tiny bit disappointed by the shopping this year. I felt like all the stores had the exact same things just with different labels. For instance the teddy coat – each store had like five different versions of it, and they all looked the same. But I’m super happy with my buys, and I’m realizing that River Island must be one of my favorite stores, as over half of my buys were made there.

What’s your favorite amongst my new buys?♥

Airport Style + Thoughts

cathinthecity airport style london cathrine heienberg

Hi my loves. I’m back from an amazing couple of days in London, I’ve had such a great time! I’m so sorry for not blogging as frequently as I usually do, but we were seriously on the run all day every day. The only time I could sit down was for eating and peeing, hah. Other than that, we were running around having a blast. That’s always how it is when you just have a few days in a big city – you want to see and do everything! But now I’m back to my usual blogging routine, and I have so many pictures to show you. This morning is being spent in total relaxation, these kinds of trips are so exhausting even though they’re tons of fun.

And girls, I just want to address something that made me so frustrated last night. I almost never get mean comments, but last night I got one that made me think.. It wasn’t even that bad, it said that I looked fat and that my thighs were ‘not so small’. The thing is, I don’t give a flying fuck what other people think of my body. I love that I have meat on my bones, and couldn’t care less if someone thinks otherwise. What made me so frustrated, however, was thinking about other girls who read my comments.. What if someone who is my size, or bigger than me, reads this? By posting a comment like that, you don’t only offend the blogger, you offend thousands of other girls as well. Is that really what you want? Do you want to be such a mean person? Personally I can’t comprehend that anyone would want to be that mean. What I’m trying to say is that for those of you who like to post trashy comments on blogs, try to think about the bigger picture. As I said I almost never get mean comments, but I know that a lot of other bloggers get them all the time. I don’t mean that you’re not allowed to post critisism or negative comments, but by commenting negatively on a person’s look, you’re contributing to thousands of innocent girls’ self esteem as well. And that is NOT okay. Isn’t it hard enough being a girl, with a pressure from society to look a certain way, weigh a certain weight etc. as it is? Why should we fuck up each other’s self esteem, when we in stead could build each other up and make the world a better place to be?

Luckily I feel like all my readers only want to build me up, and I appreciate all the comments I get so much that I can’t put it into words. It’s just something that I had to get off of my chest, even though I know it doesn’t apply to most of my readers. I think ‘fat’, ‘skinny’, and other words describing another person’s weight should be banned. Like I said, I honestly don’t care if I’m called fat, but for another girl it could be her breakingpoint. I definitely know that if someone called me fat when I was 16 and more insecure, I would take it way harder. Bottom line: Think twice before calling someone names. Think three times, four times, or even five times if you have to. Take as long as you need to come to the conclusion that you should just shut the fuck up in stead.

Wowza, that was so good to get off my chest. Now I’m gonna start unpacking, and in a bit I thought I’d show you the result of my shopping spree if you guys wanna see? :) Have a lovely day sweets♥

Postcard From London

12 Comments | Fashion

Coat: Here // Bag: Here // Skirt: Zara // Top: Motel // Boots: Bianco (adlinks)

Hi lovelies! I’m just popping by to say hi, even though I really don’t have time to blog right now. We’re enjoying London to the fullest, this city is simply gorgeous! Every street corner is decorated somehow, whether it’s with fresh flowers or more traditional British decorations. I love it! Our hotel, Soho Sanctum Hotel, is absolutely breathtaking. I can’t wait to show you all the pictures I’ve snapped! I of course had to take the typical tourist picture in front of one of the iconic phone booths, haha.

Yesterday we shopped for a bit then went out to dinner, and today we’ve been on the craziest shopping spree. I had to buy an extra suitcase, and I still couldn’t fit everything in, haha. I’ve only bought a few things for myself though, mostly I’ve just bought Christmas presents. I’ll be busy with exams until December 22nd, so it’s so nice to get done with the gifts now. Right now we just got back from a heavenly lunch at Momo, and we’re getting ready for Swoty, which is the UK version of ‘Årets Brillemodell’. It’s a huge gala, and it’s usually very celebrity filled. I can’t wait!

Have a lovely evening sweets <3

Looking through old pictures from different London trips has gotten me so excited for tomorrow! I’m going with the Specsavers team and my darling Espen, and I cannot wait. I thought we’d have a full schedule during our three days there, but it turns out that we only have plans for the evenings so far, and the days completely off. The only place I spend time while in London is always Oxford Street. Topshop at Oxford Street to be exact. I know that London has so much more to offer, so I thought I’d ask you guys for some advice. I definitely need to stop by Topshop, and Espen has promised to take me to some amazing vintage stores, but other than that; What should we do? The weather forecast promises rain, rain and more rain, but we’ll have tons of fun anyhow.

My bags are packed, and I have a 5 am alarm set to wake me up tomorrow morning. So all I’m missing now is some good tips. If you have some good tips on where to shop, where to dine, and other fun things to do – please share♥
