Hi loves♥ It’s time for another makeup post, and what is more fitting than a summer party theme? I was majorly excited to try these new products, which I think are perfect for dancing the summer nights away.
First up; The hair. I guess it’s no secret that I prefer loose curls any day of the year, but especially for summer it’s such a cute look. I like them loose and not to perfect-looking. Even though we’ve spent 30 minutes on getting them to look good, we don’t want that to show, right? To make these curls I used the GHD Gold Classic Styler. It’s what I’ve used to curl my hair for three years now, and I’m never going back to regular curling irons ever again! First of all I think the result is much prettier and more natural when I use a straightener, and second of all the curls hold soo much longer. When I use curling irons the curls are gone the next day, no matter how much I spray with strong hold hairspray. When using this flatiron from GHD, the curls hold until I was my hair again, whether that’s the next day or five days later. No joke!!
To get extra volume and hold I used the Abundantly Bouncy Volumising Mousse and Reassuringly Firm Session Hairspray from Percy and Reed. I apply the mousse in wet hair before blowdrying. For extra volume, blowdry your hair with your head upside down, I always do that. After curling, spray well with the hairspray and you’re good to go. I really liked these two magic workers, they might just be my new favorites. I often find my hair to be sticky after using both a mousse and a hairspray, but my hair is as soft as ever, even after applying generously of these two products.
If you don’t know how to curl your hair with a flatiron, Youtube is your best bet. There are so many great tutorials there. The process is pretty much the same as when flatting your hair out, just that you twirl the iron like on the picture. Work the iron through your hair slowly while you’ve twirled it around, it’s as easy as that. When you’re done curling one section, fluff it up a bit and you’ll get even more curls. For lots of curls, work with small sections at a time, like I did here. For more natural waves, do bigger sections at a time. When the hair has cooled down and you’ve sprayed with hairspray, you can use either a brush or your fingers to soften up the curls.
Before and after curling..
When the hair is done, it’s time for the makeup. I’m an eyeshadow addict, so even though summer makeup should be more on the natural side, I can’t stay completely away from them. For this look I used a combination of NYX Glam Shadow in the color Ash, Studiomakeup Soft Blend Eyeshadow in the color Firey Copper and GloMinerals eyeshadow in the color Bamboo. I used the light one from GloMinerals as a base all over my lids, and also under my eyes. The one called Firey Copper went on my lids and in the crease, and I put the color Ash on the outer corners of my eyes. I especially loved the Firey Copper shadow, such a great color for summer, and it really brings out the eye color.
On my cheeks I put a few strokes of GloMinerals Blush in the color Papaya. It’s my absolute favorite blush, I’ve used it for like six years. Such a natural yet gorgeous pink color that goes with every skin tone. It contains antioxidants and vitamin A, C and E, so it’s super nurturing for the skin.
A summery makeup look requires a bronzed complexion. I used the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder from TooFaced in the color Medium/Deep. This is also an old favorite of mine. I love that it’s completely matte as I just hate those glittery powders which make us look like disco balls, and the color is very natural. And the best thing of all, it smells like chocolate! Yum yum!
Pink lips is also a big favorite of mine, especially hot pink. Here I’ve used the La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream from TooFaced in the color Fuchsia Shock. It moisturizes the lips while giving them a rich color which lasts for hours and hours.
My favorite makeup product of the bunch is the Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener from Bare Minerals. I’d never tried it before, but I’m already addicted! The result is more natural than with any other highlighter I’ve tried, and it makes my skin look moist and fresh. It evens out the skintone, and as the name promises, makes you look much more awake and ready to go. I put it under my eyes, under my eyebrows, on the cheek bones and on the bridge of my nose.
The finishing touch to the look is the nailpolish from Deborah Lippman in the color Groove is in the heart. Such a cute color, don’t you think? Deborah Lippman has the best nail polishes, they’re so easy to apply, dry fast and the color last for days and days..
As always, Coverbrands have made a special discount code for my readers, for the products used in this post. Unforunately the code doesn’t include the GHD iron or the nailpolish, but everything else. For the eyeshadows and the lipstick, the code works on every single color, not just the ones I’ve tried. I hope you liked the post, and I wish I had a summer party to go to, now that I’m basically ready to go, haha♥
