..Okay, maybe not quite, but I’m getting there! This morning I jumped out of bed super early, after two-three hours of sleep, which is what every night has been like this week. A lot on my mind plus the excitement for my upcoming travel, leaves me laying awake staring at the ceiling for the most part of the night. Anywho, everything I’ve been working on is dunzo, yay!! I’ve had a morning Skype meeting, done this whole charade on my head (if you look closely, you can see the rolls on my head), done my makeup, picked out outfits for the shoot, and now I’m ready for a meeting with my accountant, a photo shoot with BA, shopping the last necessities for the trip, and finally start packing. I’m actually having a purse issue, and I need to look for some cheap low key bags today. I’ll be bringing no less than two cameras and four different lenses, so I need a big bag, and the only ones I have are from 3.1 Phillip Lim and Mulberry. No way I’m visiting poor townships and areas with a bag of the value that could feed them for weeks or months. I would feel like such a fool. I’m leaving at 4am tonight/tomorrow morning, landing in Cape Town around 10pm, then we’re headed out to dinner, so if any of you have some extra energy stocked up, feel free to send it over! Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get this roll circus off of my head. Have a good one♥♥
Proud girl with finished work in hand.. By the way, here you can see my new lash extensions. I’m wearing no mascara! Love it. Done at FaceIt, which you can reach at 55230150. Anne is a magic worker! /sponsored treatment

Så fin du ble! Lurte på hvor du har fått tak i de hårrullene? :-)

Takk :) De kjøpte jeg i NY, superbillige, og fester bare med fliseklemmer :)

You would feel like such a fool, so you’re buying a NEW one?!?! Oh, the irony… Girl, you seem like a great person and I like you’re blog, but I can’t believe you said(think like) that! That was so wrong in tons of different levels! I don’t even know where to begin and I’m sure you can figure it out yourself… Maybe you’re “lucky” and travel to an area where fashion is such a foreign concept, people don’t even recognize your fab Philip Lim.
Have a great trip, I’m sure it will make you feel better with a new, cheap bag ;)

Oh my God, relax. A cheaper bag that I’m not afraid of getting dirty and such is exactly what I need for Africa, as we’re going on safaris, mountain hikes++, and since I’m very devoted to giving my readers good quality pictures I bring a lot of camera equipment.. Obviously I’m not just buying a new cheap bag for the trip to the township, but yes, I would feel like a fool carrying a $1500 bag there.

Ur so sweet, thank you :)

I would feel like a fool bying a bag that cost that much.

if that’s what you mean, then say so!! That’s totally ok! But don’t say: No way I’m visiting poor townships and areas with a bag of the value that could feed them for weeks or months, if that’s not what you mean.
I can see why Pernille misunderstood you…….
and… you would feel like a fool carying an expensive bag, but you don’t think about carrying TWO cameras and FOUR lenses? I guess you don’t own the cheapest camera there is either…..

Kjøpe kjøpe kjøpe kjøpe.

Hei flotte Cathrine :)

I personaly think that the African people wouldn’t know the price of the bag, but the cameras – yes ;) so if showing the bag would make you feel bad, showing the cameras and lences won’t? … Don’t get me wrong, I adore you Cath! :) I’m just trying to understand

I totally agree with you cath! i wouldnt carry my expensive bag somwhere that could get runied and most probably be leaving it laying around with soo many exciting things happening around me,.. And yes take all the cameras and lenses you can i am sure we all cant wait to see what you have in store to show us :].. Lastly people if you have nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all… Love your blog and thanks for updating it as frequently as possible its the best.. Much love from Miami <3 xoxo

I obviously don’t think the african children will go “Hey, that bag is worth $1500 plus taxes!!!” Haha. It’s about how I would feel, so I’d rather just carry my cameras in something else than an expencive bag. I think they’re pretty used to tourists with cameras :)
cathrineheienberg says
Det skal jeg prøve å få til :) Har bare vært på FaceIt selv i Bergen, men alle sier de er de beste :) Stor klem

Okay, I probably should have written that. I wrote the post in a hurry as I really didn’t have time to blog this morning, and that was just one of the main reasons, so I wrote that without thinking much more about it. Besides, I just write whatever I’m thinking here, don’t take it so seriously, I don’t :) Actually I don’t own my camera, I’m borrowing it from Canon, and I would never bring that much camera gear unless I wanted to make my readers happy with good pictures and videos from South Africa.. So sorry for trying to be a good blogger :)
wiktoria says
Ok, I just read your answer in some comments above, and now I totally understand :)

I got what you meant Cath the first time around :-) and don’t apologise for saying what you think, don’t forget this is your blog after all.
I know we all have our opinions on what is right and wrong to say about certain ‘issues’ but at the end of the day Cath is just a young woman sharing her love of fashion with a lot of like-minded other women who also love fashion. Let’s not turn this into something more than it was, simply a rushed thought. There is nothing wrong with being aware of the fact that it could come across as socially insensitive to carry such items in certain areas. Would we not all feel the same in this situation? You will always need a bag to carry items in wherever you are, so wouldn’t we all choose the option to buy a cheap yet practical bag for this purpose?
Cath was just thinking out aloud what we would all (hopefully) consider in the same situation. Just the same as when you go on holiday/travelling to a Muslim country; when you pack you wouldn’t pack a bikini and a lot of revealing clothes. Instead, you pack, dress and carry yourself appropriate to the situation you will be in, especially if you want to experience the local culture/blend in and not just follow the tourist trail.
I for one thoroughly enjoy your blog, you are honest, open and not a hint of pretentiousness.
Enjoy South Africa, I am sure cameras you are taking will enable you to catch spectacular photos of a very beautiful country (especially the vibrancy of the townships) which I look forward to you sharing with us when you get back.
