Choose a big suitcase

Even if I’m just going to London for three days, I’m bringing the biggest suitcase I have! Why? Because of all the shopping, of course. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been traveling and have ended up buying a whole new suitcase for all the stuff I’ve bought, hah. I have quite the collection of suitcases now, after all the traveling. So now I’ve learned my lesson – always bring the biggest one I have, and make sure it’s expandable too!

Get a color that pops at the airport

I’ve been made fun of for my pink suitcases (thanks Annette), haha, but I love them. Why? Because I can immediately spot it when it comes down the conveyor belt at the airport! The area around conveyor belts when the luggage comes out is one of my least favorite places in the world. People are so little considerate and pushy, you’d think Justin Bieber was doing a performance on the belt! With this pink one, I can watch from a distance, then make a run for it when I see some pink action on the belt.

Put together your outfits before leaving

It doesn’t matter if you have a big suitcase if you fill it up with all sorts of stuff before leaving! I’ve done this mistake so many times. Maybe I’ll suddenly want to wear this, and maybe this will go with something I get.. Suddenly the whole suitcase is filled up, and you only end up actually wearing a fraction of what you brought. So putting together the exact outfits you’ll wear before leaving is key! Snap some pictures of them so you remember them, and pack the outfits together. Time saved in the mornings on your trip, and room saved in your suitcase for your shopping spree!

Get travel kits and fill them up yourself

This is so genius! I always bring these, whether it’s a long or short trip. These little bottles cost like nothing, and they’re already tagged with the content! Like shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc. By using these you’ll have so much room and weight saved in your suitcase!

Simply fill them up, and keep them in a plastic bag so they don’t open up in your whole suitcase.

Remember the little things

When packing, organizing is key. I have an old toilet bag that I use only for jewelry! I put my small rings and earrings in the little pocket on the inside, and hairbands, bobby pins and other accessories in the big room. It’s so easy to forget stuff like bobby pins and hairbands, so packing a toilet bag with all this the night before you leave is so smart!

Use a carry-on suitcase

I usually always bring a carry-on suitcase. You never know if your luggage is going to go missing, especially when traveling far, so be sure to pack all your most precious and expensive belongings in here! I always bring my Chanel bags, my camera, camera lenses, computer and other expensive things in my carry-on. And if you’re like me, and need to bring your computer and camera on your travels, your shoulders will thank you! I hate walking through airports with the heaviest bag on my shoulder, it’s so much more comfortable to just bring this, and have a little shoulder bag with your wallet and phone on the side.

Fill up your pretty purses with lingerie and socks

This both saves room, and ensures that your purses will look just as pretty once you arrive. I always fill up my Chanel bags with panties and socks to ensure that they keep their shape. One time, at the airport in NY, the guard at the security check got suspicious of my Chanel for some reason, and asked to check inside.. Hello a week worth of white lace panties!! Hahaha. Poor guy! But seriously, this is a must.

  2. Pack-it-cubes er utrolig genialt! :D Mange forskjellige merker som lager slike løsninger, så trenger ikke være så kjempedyrt. Og Travalo!

    Jeg lurte forresten på om du har noen erfaringer med å få renset den lyse Chanel-vesken din? Kan man ikke få renset de via Chanel sine butikker selv om de er gamle og vintage? Jeg har nylig vært så heldig og fått kjøpt meg en lys vintage Chanel, men den kunne trengt litt rens. Så om du har noen erfaringer å dele hadde det vært supert! :D Siden de ikke har Chanel-butikker her hjemme, så må man vel levere den fra seg når man er på weekendtur eller lignende, men hvordan man får den tilbake er jo også et issue :P

      Så heldig du er! :) Jeg forsøkte å levere den inn til rens i NY, skulle være der i 10 dager og tenkte jeg hadde god tid på meg. Neida, 12-18 uker tok det! Så da måtte jeg bare droppe det :(

      • 12-18 uker faktisk! Det var ganske lenge… Jeg får gjøre litt research på hvor den nærmeste Chanel-butikken er, og vurdere om jeg er villig til å ta en dagstur kun for å hente den når den er klar! :P

      • Angående rens av Chanel. Det er ikke sikkert du kommer til å lese dette før du er tilbake fra London, men jeg spør for sikkerhets skyld. I London er det jo flere Chanel-butikker, og hit er det jo mulig å få billige flybilletter t/r samme dag! De har jo til og med en Chanel-butikk på Heathrow! Siden du kanskje er interessert i det samme, kunne du spurt hvor lenge man kan la en ferdigrenset veske ligge i en av deres butikker før man må hente den? :) Det føles litt sykt med alt dette styret for en veske, men kjekt å vite hvilke alternativer man har i det minste :P

Jeg har en liten toalettmappe (den minste størrelsen fra Lulu’s) som jeg alltid har ferdig pakket høretelefoner, ørepropper mot trykk, helsetrygdkort, smertestillende, gnagsår og andre plaster, leppepomade, våtservietter og antibac og noen andre småting i. Reiser ganske mye, og noen ganger er det litt på sparket, så det er så greit å ha den ene mappa klar med en del in flight essentials/miniapotek, synes jeg :) Var så utrolig dårlig på å pakke før, men nå er jeg blitt så god at jeg har fått skryt for ekstremt velorganisert koffert i sikkerhetskontrollen flere ganger, hahaha! Og, rosa kofferter er best :D

  5. Good tips :) I never thought of packing some underwear in my bag to help it keep shape, it’s such a good idea! And having a toiletry bag for jewellery is a good tip.
    I recently started to roll my clothes, rather than folding them and it makes a HUGE difference! Even after 3 days in my suitcase, they were hardly creased!

  7. Hei! Jeg lurte på en ting angående å ta med dyre vesker til utlandet. Må du ha med bevis på at de ikke er kjøpt i utlandet i tilfellet du blir stoppet i tollen og de tror du har kjøpt de på turen?
