San Francisco

8 Comments | USA 2014

I’ve only spent half a day in this city, and I’m already head over heels in love with it. Seriously, is this for real? I knew that there were cute houses in all the colors of the rainbow, steep hills and charming streets here, but I thought it was just concentrated in one part of the city. I didn’t know all of San Fran was like that! Seriously, it doesn’t even look real, it’s too charming to be true. I only brought my camera for a quick sightseeing trip yesterday, but I thought I’d share the few snapshots I took while taking in all the wonderfulness that this city has to offer..

Okay, so our house deserves a few pictures to start with. It’s so freakin’ cool and chic, and so huge! This is our bedroom, where I’m blogging from right now.. I suddenly feel an urge to redecorate at home, and copy every single detail of this house. Don’t even get me started on the brick wall, it’s too cool!

Our living room..

And the dining room area. How amazing is this house?!

Oh, and just to put the cherry on the sundae.. Check out our view! This is from the bedroom, where we have perfect views over this pretty city. We even seee the Golden Gate bridge from our bed!

The first thing we visited when we got here was the house they used for the TV-series ‘Full House’. Full House was to me as a kid, what Sex and The City and Friends are now.. Shows I have seen every single episode of, and can watch again and again without ever getting tired of it. DJ, Steph, Michelle, they were my idols growing up. It was so fun to see the house! Next we headed to Lombard Street, which must be the coolest street I’ve ever seen. The hill is so steep that the road almost goes in circles all the way down.

Cool, right? Another thing I noticed was that my favorite flower, hydrangea, was e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. For us Norwegians they are pretty pricey, especially if you want to buy them on a branch and have in a vase. Here in San Fran they almost grow as weed I was told. Another reason to be in love with this city..

San Francisco is an extremely gay friendly city, which makes me love it even more. There must be thousands of these flags around the city, which makes me feel like everyone is welcome here. Not only when it comes to if you like girls or boys, but there’s room for all sorts of people and personalities. There are so many interesting people here, I wish I could stay for years and hear everyone’s story. Especially with those who lived through the hippie era, as San Francisco was one of the main cities the movement originated from. Peace & Love!

The hills are so steep, it seems impossible to drive up and down them. All the houses along these steep hills blow my mind, so cool!

Street art is found absolutely everywhere in this pretty city..

Yesterday was just a small warm-up sightseeing-wise, as we were pretty beat from the long drive. Today it’s ON!! Unfortunately we won’t have time to visit Alcatraz, but we’re heading to some other really cool places. I wish we had much more time here, I can’t believe we’re going home tomorrow! When I think about it, I’ve actually spent a full month in the US so far in 2014, so I guess I should just be happy with that. But I’ll definitely come back to San Francisco, this city has so much to offer. It’s really chilly and wind though, so I’m facing a real wardrobe challenge here. My suitcase is meant for the blistering desert heat, and the only sweater I have is a pink one with a unicorn in rainbow colors on it. Come to think about it, that probably works perfectly in this city. I don’t know if it will make for a good an outfit post though, hah. Any who, have a lovely day you guys! <3

Hollywood

3 Comments | USA 2014

The Hollywood sign must be one of the most fun things to see for first time visitors in LA, like myself. It’s the first thing we went to see when we got there, and seeing it seriously gave me butterflies in my stomach.

I thought I’d share a little secret tip with those of you who are lucky enough to be visiting LA as well. I read on Elise’s blog that if you type the address Deronda Drive into your GPS, and drive all the way to the end, you’ll be as close as you can bee to the Hollywood sign. The official viewing points are much farther down, so this is a must! And here’s an additional tips for you. At the end of the road you just meet a big gate where it looks like you can’t go any farther. Well, you can! Park your car a little farther down the road, then walk up to the gate. On the left side there’s a little door, which can be hard to spot, where you’re actually allowed to go. Go through the door and up the hill, and there you have a huge space right beneath the Hollywood sign all to yourself, because most tourists don’t know about this. We saw tons of tourists on our way up taking pictures from the road, and there we were, with the best view all to ourselves.

Ah, I miss LA already.. See you from San Francisco babes♥

On The Road Again

Snapshots from yesterday

LA is definitely a city where you need a car. I was so shocked while walking around there, because we never met anyone on the sidewalks. Everyone are just driving around, parking right outside the store or restaurant their heading to, then walking the few steps in and out. We’ve had our fair share of time in the car too though. For my Norwegian readers, we have driven the equivalent of Bergen to Oslo ten times during our time here in the US! Yesterday was one of the most magical drives yet. 8 hours was spent in the car driving up the Gold Coast, with breathtaking views of the ocean, violent waves splashing up on the cliffs, and steep hills with gorgeous forest on the other side. If you’re ever driving from LA to San Fran, you absolutely need to take Highway 1 where you drive on the coast, even though it takes a little longer than the other options. It would be a crime to miss it! Now we’re off for even more driving. We’re in a small city called Montery, about two hours south of San Francisco. I’ve booked a ridiculously cool apartment for us on the top of a steep hill, with amazing views over San Fran. I can’t wait to see it! I hope you’re all enjoying the day sweeties <3

West Coast

5 Comments | USA 2014

Los Angeles → Laguna Beach → La Jolla → San Diego, our road trip yesterday couldn’t have been any better! We started out super early, and didn’t come home until the middle of the night. We drove down the west coast, almost at the border to Mexico, and we saw so many amazing sights on our way. Laguna Beach was beautiful, with mansions and expensive cars anywhere I turned. The beaches were super crowded though, so I let my camera take a little break while we enjoyed a few hours at the beach there.

Our next stop, La Jolla, was absolutely breathtaking.

We enjoyed lunch while having a perfect view of the ocean, seals and snorkelers right outside our window..

I of course had to go say hello to the seal, and just a little fun fact for you.. Seals smell worse than anything I’ve ever smelled before! I thought I was going to faint, so it was definitely not as fun and cute as I thought it would be, hah.

We arrived in San Diego right before sunset, and stopped at Sunset Cliffs, which must be the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

We enjoyed the sunset from the cliffs, with a beautiful wedding right besides us and tons of couples making out. I don’t blame them, I don’t think you could find a more romantic place during sunset if you tried!

Surfers were everywhere, which was so fun to watch..

The sunset was breathtaking..

Now it’s time to pack up our stuff, and leave Los Angeles! I’m so bummed out about that, I really love this city. I don’t want to leave! Luckily we’re just driving up towards San Francisco though, we’re not leaving the US just yet. We have booked an amazing apartment from tomorrow, and tonight we actually don’t have anywhere to stay. I guess we’ll just find a pretty city on our way to San Fran and stay the night there, a little spontaneity never hurts. I hope you’re all enjoying the Sunday♥

Yellow

14 Comments | USA 2014

I am so in love with this new dress from Topshop! It’s actually the only thing that came home with me from our shopping spree at The Grove, I fell for the color immediately. The fit is also perfect in my opinion, and it was the perfect piece to wear for lunch at the fancy schmancy Chateau Marmont yesterday. Everyone has kept telling me that this is a safe bet if you want to spot a celeb or two, but to be honest I thought it was a bit exaggerated. Like moviestars really go there for lunch every day? Yeah right. Uhm, I was wrong. The first thing I saw when I sat down was Channing Tatum’s face. I kid you not! We actually saw his new movie 22 Jump Street the night before (it was hilarious, a must-see). I said to my boyfriend before lunch ‘Maybe some of the actors from the movie will be there!‘, and he was like ‘Haha, you wish‘. Well, my wish came true, haha. For two hours I sat right next to him trying to keep my cool. I of course had to post the news on Instagram, and people were requesting picture proof. Let me just say that if you’re at Chateau Marmont and spot a familiar face, you do not ask for a picture or even try to snap a sneak pic of them! You’ll be thrown out of there faster than you can spell Tatum. When my good pal Channing left (please don’t kill my buzz), Chris Rock came in to take his place. Bottom line, I can confirm that the rumors about Chateau Marmont being the place to go if you want a side of famous eyecandy along with your lunch, are true.

Okay, enough celebrity rambling. I should really appear cooler than this, but who cares, hah. Today we have a long day ahead of us! I have so many cities I want to visit, like Laguna Beach and San Diego, so today we’re squeezing them all in. I’ll share lots of pictures tomorrow, have a great day sweets <3

Postcard Of The Day

4 Comments | USA 2014

If you’re trying to find heaven on earth, look no further! Yesterday I found it, in Malibu. What a freakin’ gorgeous place! White beaches, blue ocean, stylish people, huge mansions..  We had such a blast spending the day there, relaxing on the beach, driving around looking at the mansions, eating yummy food.. I can’t imagine what it’s like living there, it’s definitely on my to-do list! I have tons of pics from yesterday, but right now it’s time to start the day here. First we’re headed to Walk of Fame in Hollywood. Not something I really feel like I need to see, but a quick stop there is probably something we should do. After that a lunch at the famous Chateau Marmont is on the menu, before a trip to Griffith Observatory is next. I hope you’re all having a lovely day <3

Black & Yellow

12 Comments | USA 2014

Jeans: Asos // Blouse: Forever21 // Bag: Chanel // Sandals: Zara

Black and yellow is a color combo I’ve never thought was a good match earlier, but now I think the two colors work together like a charm. These are some quick snaps of last night’s outfit, right before the sun went down.  We ended up going to the movies for the third time here in LA, haha. We have so much on our to-see list during daytime, but at night we’re sort of lost. We want to do fun things, but not go to clubs and stuff like that. Sightseeing in the daytime is way too exhausting for us to check out the nightlife as well! It’s way chillier here in Los Angeles than I thought it would be by the way. During daytime it’s pretty hot, but most places are pretty windy, which means goosebumps on my naked arms. The evenings are straight-out cold, at least considering my wardrobe choices which solely consist of thin dresses and skirts. It’s still early in the summer though, so I guess it gets warmer. Just a little tip for those of you who are lucky enough to visit California soon :)

Santa Monica

16 Comments | USA 2014

With the risk of sounding cheesy, life here in California is nothing but a dream. Here are some snapshots from yesterday afternoon, which was spent in Santa Monica and Venice..

We started out at Santa Monica Pier, where they have an awesome theme park..

We did the roller coaster, which was so much fun! I’m turning into such a daredevil on this trip, hah. Normally I hate roller coasters..

I was wearing a skirt from Dahlia, and my top can be found here (adlink).

Whenever I see swings, I turn into a five years old again.. So much fun!

We walked along the beach, which was so breathtakingly beautiful..

Iconic!

Who do you think tried to pose in the water, and ended up getting a huge wave splashing up inside her skirt and all the way up to her panties? I’ll give you a hint, her name starts with ‘C’ and ends with ‘athrine’.

Pretty Santa Monica..

My love, my all, my everything.. I actually think we’re sneaking up on 9 years together soon, I sort of lost track.

Just around sunset we arrived at Venice Beach, which was totally different from Santa Monica. It felt much more urban, a lot more homeless people who had camped along the beach (they were all super nice), a lot more weed signs and not to mention weed smells.. But I loved both of the places so much!

There were so many fun things to look at in Venice Beach, like this skater park with ridiculously talented skaters..

Such a good idea!

My babe in the Venice Beach sunset..

After we came home we headed to the movies again, hah. I just love going to the movies in the US, and it’s such a nice and relaxing way to end a day full of sightseeing. Today we’re off to explore some more, I can’t wait to get this day started! Have a lovely day you guys♥
