Don’t Even Know What To Say..

42 Comments | New York 2011

Good morning my dear readers. Where do I begin..? What can I say..? This is just beyond words. It’s so indescribable, unbelievable, incredibly sad, insane, inhumanely.. I spent all day in yesterday, crying and reading online news papers.. I went out for a while with Lisa to try to think about something else.. 17 people were then confirmed killed. When I came home, I turned on CNN..The number of young people killed at Utøya had increased from 10 to 80. What a complete shock. What a tragedy. When I checked my email, I had 10 new messages from girls who wanted someone to talk to.. Girls who had lost their friends or a family member, and wanted a place to write down their feelings.. Without a doubt the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to read.. I’m completely devastated on behalf of everyone who is affected by this horrible tragedy. At the same time, I feel incredibly proud to be Norwegian. Without a doubt the best country in the world. How could this happen..? It’s 4.30 am here in NY, but I can’t even think about sleeping.. My heart goes out to everyone, and my deepest condolences to every one who is affected. I must admit, it’s difficult to be all alone in NY at a time like this. I just want to go home and hug all my friends and family.. I want to give blood to the people who need it, I want to assist in any possible way.. There’s not much I can do, but just know that if you want a place to write down your thoughts and feelings, you’re more than welcome to email me at cath@cathinthecity.com. Lots of love from Cath <3

For Norway

15 Comments | New York 2011

A candle is lit here in New York for Norway, my wonderful country, and for everyone who has lost their lives in this horrible terror attack, as well as families and friends of the deceased. My heart goes out to you! A million tears has fallen from my eyes today, and I’m expecting millions more to come.. This is just so unreal..

Okay, so the flame of course went out because of the wind when I took this picture, so I had to add one in Photoshop.. But you get the picture.. <3

When Words Come Short..

33 Comments | New York 2011

I don’t even know what to say. This is so unreal. I was awoken by a phone from my best friend in the world, Tonje, telling me about the horrible terror attack in Oslo. She let me know that she was ok, but I couldn’t hold back my tears. I’ve been reading online news papers all day, and I’m crying like a baby. I simply can’t wrap my head around this, as I’m sure none of you can either. In addition to the bombing, the indescribably tragic events that took place on Utøya.. It’s so unreal, unfair, fucked up.. I can’t believe that this is happening, that this is the world we live in.. How can some people possess such a pure cruelty, how can they do this? I sincerely hope that all my readers are OK, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. I’ve cancelled all the plans I had for today, this is just affecting me too much.. Again, I really hope all of my readers are OK, be safe everyone, remember not to pass judgements before we know anything for sure, stick together and take care of each other! If there’s anything I can do for anyone of you, please email me or leave a comment!! Lots of love from Cath <3

Girl Time

19 Comments | New York 2011

I spent some precious girl time with my gorgeous friend Haley yesterday. We started with a wonderful lunch at Tartin in the West Village, shopped on Madison Avenue, had a snack and some wine at the Plaza Hotel, and finished off the evening with a little photo shoot of our new clothes. Great day in NYC!!

Love the decoration at the Plaza’s tea room!

Does anyone else think she looks a little like Caroline?

We sat there for hours and kept ourselves busy with lovely girl talk! She’s such a good friend.

Dinner Outfit

31 Comments | New York 2011

Last night I managed to drag my fevered ass out the door and out to dinner with Ulrikke. I still feel like crap, which really sucks.. I don’t even remember the dinner.. Bad sign! Sunnies on my sick face was very necessary, even if it was completely dark outside..

Cute? Yes. Flattering? No. Comfortable? Hell to the no. Return? Yes.

I was so excited about this new jacket from NastyGal, but it feels like I’m wearing a carpet!! What a bummer..

Fake Those Cheek Bones

15 Comments | New York 2011

I’m completely addicted to this contouring set I got at Sephora last week. I’ve exaggerated it a little bit here so that you can see better where I use it. I usually blend much better than this.

Here’s the magic products..

All you do is use the angled side of the brush, suck in your cheeks and swipe the darkest powder in the holes of your cheeks. Then you blend with the rounder end of the brush, and finish off with highlighting the upper and lower areas of your cheek bones. Remember to blend well!! Swipe carefully a few strokes with the darkest color on your temple, forehead and jaw too, for a more natural look. The set can also be used to shape your nose (slim it/broaden it) but I don’t really do that..
