Doodle4Google

15 Comments | New York 2011

In collaboration with Google, I’ll give one of my dear readers a smartphone!! Yay! All you need to do is to participate in the Doodle4Google contest, like I have. I love lip glosses and lipsticks, so I chose to make mine with just that, haha. Doodle4Google is a competition where you can design your own Doodle and the price is that the Google search engine displays your Doodle an entire day. The theme for the competition is “I love…”.

Click here to make your own contribution to the contest. Leave a comment here telling me what your contribution looks like, and I’ll choose one of you who gets the Smartphone! :)

Good Morning Loves

16 Comments | New York 2011

It’s 4.30 in the morning here in NY, but I can’t even think about sleeping.. Why? Mice!!! I’m absolutely certain that there’s a mouse in my room.. Such a horrible feeling!! I’ve searched the whole place and it’s nowhere to be seen, but I can hear it squeaking.. Eww!! I really hope that it’s just in the walls or something.. I’ve looked (or ok, lifted things with my umbrella while standing in my bed shaking hysterically) everywhere, and it’s not here!! It’s so weird, I have towels both in front of and behind the door, and I have this mouse device thingy plugged in that makes horrible noises in little mice ears.. This must be a very unattractive place for a mouse.. Well, enough mouse talk. Today (or tomorrow) is gonna be a tough day! I have to say bye to my dear Lisa :( She’s going home to Florida as her internship at Tommy Hilfiger has ended, and I’m super sad! During the short amount of time I’ve known her, she’s come to be one of my closest friends. We made some video blogs for you guys, but they were so giggly that I don’t know if I can post them, haha. I also need to clean my room, and prepare everything for Sunday, because my best friend in the world Tonje is coming!!! It’s gonna be so amazing!!! I can’t wait <3 She's staying nine days, then I just have one more day here and then I'm off to Norway! Super excited about that. Ok, I'm rambling, I'll go to bed now.. Have a great day sweeties <3

I’m going to bed fully dressed and with shoes on, so that I’m ready to run out the door and scream like a mad woman if the mouse gets the balls to show its face.. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen!!

Low-blows

99 Comments | New York 2011

Hi guys. I just wanted to clear up a few things.. I had decided not to give this any attention, but I just want to be done with it.. A lot of you reacted very negatively on the note with my name on it attached to a rose. I understand very well where you are coming from with this, that being said, I’m disappointed in some of you who drew conclusions completely out of context immediately. I would like to say that I am very sorry if this whole situation offended anyone, and I would like to tell you the background for the note. A girl who was strongly affected by the tragedy (without giving any further details..) emailed me the day of the tragedy, and we have emailed back and forth since. I told her that I wish I was in Norway, so I could go with her to the rose parade in Oslo. In order to do something nice for me, she wrote the note with my name on it, and held it in her had while she was walking in the rose parade. She told me “You came with me when 250.000 people attended the rose parade”. I think that was incredibly touching and very nice of her! If this offended anyone, I’m sorry. When I get comments saying that I use this whole tragedy to promote myself, that I have no right to pretend like I care when I didn’t even come home right after everything happened, and that I use this whole tragedy to showcase myself, I get very sad.. I think it’s incredibly insensitive of you to give me such a low-blow, which has absolutely no roots in reality. You should be ashamed of yourselves! I can definitely take critique, but me and my family were very shocked when we saw the worst comments.. I’ve even had journalists calling me, but I haven’t picked up the phone, because this is so lame, this whole situation.. If your goal was to make me sad, congrats, goal achieved!! That being said, I’m embarrassed on your behalf, everyone who wrote such evil things.. That’s all that will be said regarding this.. Lots of love from Cath <3

Only In New York..

And only in NY can the weather change from super sunny to a rainy thunder storm in the matter of seconds, leading to a soaking wet blogger.. Okay, maybe not only in NY, but still..

I think NY is extra pretty in the rain..

It’s so touching to see all the people of Norway gathering and sharing their love and compassion.. Words can’t describe! I’m not doing anything nowadays, I’m just laying in bed watching everything live from my beautiful country. I wish so badly that I could be there! I’m so impressed by my country, the people who were at Utøya who are able to telll their stories, our royal family, our prime minister, our government, Eskil Pedersen, the Red Cross and everyone who’s participating in the horrible work that needs to be done.. And most of all; of the Norwegian people. What a people!!! So proud to be Norwegian. Candles are lit and roses are raised here in NY <3 Remember, let's not remember the "man" who did it, he doesn't deserve our remembrance, let's just remember and think of the victims, their friends and their families <3

Let’s Not Let This Man Take Away The Joy Of Blogging..

20 Comments | New York 2011

Good morning my dear readers. I hope you’re all doing well, considering the circumstances. It’s 3am here, but I still can’t even think about sleeping. I’m watching the news live on Tv2 Nyhetskanalen, while I’m reading blog posts from the extremely brave survivors of Friday’s tragedy. I’m amazed by these brave and impressive people. Tears are still shed like a waterfall..

But lovelies, let’s not let this man take away the joy of blogging, and the joy I hope you get out of reading my blog. From today, I will try to blog somewhat normal. I’ve been getting emails from readers who ask me to please blog about the meaningless and superficial (my words, not theirs btw..) things I usually blog about, because they want a place to forget everything that’s going on.. At least for a few minutes.. I like the thought of that. I like the thought of girls in deep sorrow, can be able to get some new impressions and try to escape from the horrible conditions that are surrounding us for a while. It seems completely meaningless for  me to post outfits and such right now, but if I can use this as an arena to spread some positivity, I damn well will.

My heart and thoughts go out to everyone affected, and I love my readers, my people and my country so much <3

In the bewilderedness of what to do, where to go, who to talk to in the middle of this indescribable tragedy, Lisa and I went to the Norwegian Seamen’s Church. I’m so glad that I went. Even though I don’t consider myself religious, it was so nice to spend some time there.. Light candles for the victims and everyone affected, write our condolences, and pray. Lisa said a wonderful prayer for Norway, for the victims and their families and friends, and for me. It was very touching, and I couldn’t hold back my tears. I recommend everyone who’s in New York to pay them a visit. I felt incredibly welcome there. The people who work there are so nice, and offered us someone to talk to and even waffles and coffee. They’re having a service today at 5pm, if anyone wants to attend. My heart and thoughts go out to everyone affected in this tragedy, I’m completely devastated, but at the same time I feel incredibly lucky and proud to be Norwegian. I love my country, I love our democracy, I love that we stay united and I love that this won’t break us. Love Cath <3

You can find the church at 52 street between 1st and 2nd avenue <3
